Semester Persuasive Essay#10: Allowance

Prompt 5: Many parents give children a weekly or monthly allowance regardless of their behavior because they believe an allowance teaches children to be financially responsible. Other parents only give children an allowance as a reward for completing chores or when they have behaved properly. Explain what you think parents should do and why.

Hey my fellow children, let’s talk about allowance. Do you get a weekly/ monthly allowance or do you only get money when your parents think that you have done well with your studies or your chores? How much money do you if you get allowance? Is it a whole lot of money or is it enough to get your needs satisfied from a day to day basis? From whichever way that you look at it, there is allowance given whether it is for a good deed done or just your time to get paid. But there is one thing that I would like to say and that is parents should give their children allowance monthly rather than for when they do good. Although giving children money when they are behaving good sounds very appealing, I believe that parents should give their children allowance monthly because children need to learn how it would be to get a monthly income, not every child is perfect, and children should get the best from their parents.

I believe that parents should give monthly allowance because sooner or later that child is going to become an adult. When that child becomes an adult, hopefully, they would have a job. Since that adult would have a job, they would be getting money from their job either monthly or every two weeks on average. When they acquire this job money, they would need to have a plan on how to balance their money that they get, which money would go to food, bills, savings, etc. If that adult would have gotten a monthly allowance from their parents when they were little, they would already be ahead of the game with organizing their money like which money for food, savings, and extras like clothing. With this kind of earl on training, I think it would make a person more balanced and that is one reason why I think that parents should give their children a monthly allowance.

My second reason that parents should give allowance to their children a monthly allowance is because children are not going to be good every single second of the day. If a parent just gives their child money only based on their attitude, grades, or chores, most children would never get allowance. I know this first hand because my parents do not give us allowance at all because one of the three components is not up on the good side. I know if a child has an attitude than it is a bad thing, but they do not need to void them of any money. They should just lower the amount of allowance that the child is given. If they allowance was monthly, this would make this system easier to apply because the parent’s child would not be as made at them as they would be because they do not have to go around begging and annoying to get money from other sources.

Finally, my last reason that parents should give their children a monthly allowance because they are your children. I know that most parents want to see their children to become successful, but on the other hand they want to make their children experience the best childhood that they could possibly have. One way they could do that is by giving a monthly allowance. It does not have to be a huge sum of money or exactly every month, because most people know that with the way the economy is, there is no way that could happen. But, once the child knows that the parent is trying to help with their childhood experience. I am pretty sure they would appreciate their parents more. I am pretty sure no parent wants to hear their child ever say to them that they never was given allowance or did anything for them. I know this because my mother tells me this all of the time.

In conclusion, I believe that parents should give their children allowance monthly, not by how their children acts, or does their chores. They should give them monthly allowance because children need to someday be ready for managing their money, they cannot always be good, and they need to have a fulfilling childhood. Because of these three factors, monthly allowance should be allowed. I would know that in the far near future, I would have children and give them a monthly allowance even if it was small. Now, what would you think because I could ask anyone and they would agree that my idea of monthly allowance is the right way to think?

Semester Persuasive Essay#9: Volunteer Hours

Prompt 9: Many junior high and senior high schools around the country now require students to spend a certain number of hours doing volunteer work or community service. Some people believe that this is an excellent idea that promotes good citizenship and cultivates compassion. Others feel that forced volunteerism is not volunteerism at all. How do you feel about this issue? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.

“How many volunteer hours does your school require you to have before you can graduate from high school?” my friend asks me. “Well you see I need 300 volunteer hours.” I reply. This is one question that I get a lot from my friends from other schools. When they ask this question, it usually gets me thinking about how it is mandatory that we get volunteer hours in order to graduate. I also start to think about how we are basically forced to volunteer our time in order for us to complete our education. I think that is plain wrong since you are not volunteering from the bottom of your heart instead you are volunteering to allow yourself to graduate. Although volunteering is a nice thing to do, I believe that we should not be forced to volunteer for our schools because it is not sincere, it makes it a duty rather than something you would want to do, and it makes you not want to volunteer in the future.

I believe that when you are volunteering for your school you are not being sincere about it. Even though there are some people who are sincere with their volunteering, most of us are not. For example, I know for sure my volunteering was not very sincere. I had volunteered at a local park, but the only reason was because my mother forced me to go and I needed the hours for my future high school. I did not even want to do the volunteering, but in the end I still had fun. But, I still was not sincere with the volunteering because I avoided some of the things I was supposed to do and dreaded having to do something with the children alone.

Being forced to volunteer at our schools makes the act of volunteering a duty rather than something that you would want to do. I simply say this because it is simply true in all of my experiences. In my experiences, every time I think about volunteering, I think about how necessary it is in my life and how it needs to be done. The point of volunteering is for you to take out time from your life and dedicate it to something that you would want to help without getting something in return. This is not what comes to my mind. Instead, I always expect a paper stating I did so many hours on this day when it comes to volunteering and that is not the way volunteering should go.

I also believe that being forced to volunteer would make you not want to volunteer in the future. I believe this because this is how I feel at the moment. Ever since my mother forced me to volunteer and the school has required for us to have a certain number of volunteer hours, I have not wanted to volunteer for anything. I did not want to feel this way, but if you were forced to do something for a certain length of time, one day you are going to realize that you do not want to continue whatever you were doing. This is exactly how I felt about the volunteering thing and I regret having mandatory volunteer hours needed because I cannot enjoy going out to volunteer on my free will.

In conclusion, I believe that the schools should not require volunteer hours. It is being forced to volunteer which makes it not volunteering at all because you are not sincere and you would see it as a duty rather than something fun. It also lowers your chances of wanting to volunteer in the future because you would always remember that you were forced to volunteer just to graduate from high school. Now this is what I think about required volunteer hours. What are your thoughts about this? Am I right or am I wrong?

The morning before school.

"Momma I don't feel good." I say,

"No!" I did not want to be a bother.

The sounds of cars outside,

Semester Essay 8: Prompt 22

Prompt 22: Carpooling, recycling and planting trees are all activities that are good for the environment. Write an essay convincing readers to actively participate in one of these activities.

There are many things that you can do in your neighborhood that can be considered fun. You could go to the movies with your friends, go to an amusement park, go to the park, or even go to the museum. Even though these are some very nice things to do, there is something that you could do that would help the environment and would help you as a person. This thing that I am talking about is a little thing called planting trees. Although this may seem very boring, I believe that everyone should start planting trees because it helps the environment, helps you become responsible as a person, and could provide for something handy in the future.

I believe that you should plant a tree because it helps the environment out. By planting a tree, you would be making the environment greener and would be allowing more oxygen in the air. The planted trees would add on to all the other green plants in our environment and would make the city more alive with nature. It would make the world more natural and nature like, like it should be. Since we exchange air with plants, if we plant a tree, we would be doing a favor for us and the plant and we would rely on each other to stay alive.

Planting a tree also helps you become more responsible as a person. Since you plant the tree, you would have to make sure that the plant has all of the tender love and care that it is allowed to get. You would have to make sure it does not die and grows to bear some fruit, if it is a fruit tree that you have planted. Since you would have to look after the planted tree, you would grow some skills in responsibility because no one but yourself would take care of your responsibility (unless you have a gardener that comes every day to your house.)

Planting a tree also has other benefits. Once the tree you have planted is grown big enough, you might be able to sit under it for shade on a hot day, have a picnic right underneath the tree, or even collect the fruit from the tree. Now, if you never have planted that tree in the first place, you might not have shade, a place to picnic, or a source of fresh fruit. See, that is why you should do the simple, environmental act of planting a harmless tree.

In conclusion you should go and plant a tree. Planting trees could help the environment, make you more responsible, and could prove handy once it has grown to full capacity. Planting a tree is simple and very environmental and you should do it so that one day you can have that nice mango and be able to say that you were responsible for that tree that produced it. So, what do you think about planting a tree right now? Do you feel like helping your environment out? Please say yes because if you do not a person could lose some oxygen because you did not plant a tree!

Semester Persuasive Essay#7

Prompt 27: For centuries, people have wondered about the possibility of life on other planets in the universe. Do you believe extraterrestrial life exists? Write an essay persuading others to share your point of view.

Have you ever thought that the movie E.T. was based on real occurrences instead of just a fictional story line? Have you ever believed that there were ever such things as unidentified flying objects, or UFO’s, just because the government showed real live videos of supposedly UFO’s? Or maybe perhaps you have actually seen some disk like thing in the air and everyone else agreed with you that it was an UFO’s?  How about how the government finds all these things that give evidence that there is water on other planets meaning there should be life? Although there may seem evidence that extraterrestrial life exists on other planets and that they visit our planet, I believe that extraterrestrial life does not exists because only Earth  has the capacity to bring life to things, there is no creature smarter than the human, and because extraterrestrials are fictional.

I believe that Earth is the only place to hold life because God made it that way. If He really wanted to make some other planet to be inhabited he would have. But the thing is that He did not! Just because He made some other planets does not mean that there would be life on the other planets, especially in the sense of extraterrestrials. Earth is the perfect choice and location, so why would he make any other planet hold life when he has the most beautiful Earth that he created? That is why he did not make others that would just fail the requirements for perfection.

I also believe that there is no creature that is smarter than a human. Let us look at all of the creatures on planet Earth. Even though all the creatures have a way of communicating with each other through sounds, we have a better way of communicating. We are able to think things out and make up different ideas like a satellite or a way to study a piece of bacteria or maybe even how to creating medicines. No creatures on Earth besides humans can do that. I do not care if you have heard that extraterrestrials are supposedly higher in knowledge than humans. In my mind, nothing is greater than the human mind, except God, so how is it possible for there to be an extraterrestrial when the supposedly higher “beings” cannot exceed the knowledge of humans.

I also believe that extraterrestrials are purely fictional. If you think that UFO’s are actually unidentified, I believe that you are missing the big picture. I believe the government probably wants us to believe in extraterrestrials, so that if they do something wrong, then they could blame it on the supernatural. If it was made up from the government, then that just tells me that extraterrestrials are real if water can mix with water (it cannot by the way). They are just like another grim fairy tale in a scientific story book.

In conclusion, I believe that extraterrestrial life does not exist. They do not exist because only Earth holds life, no creature is smarter than a human, and because they are purely fictional because of the government. It makes sense to me that an extraterrestrial life would not, does not exist. Do you still believe in them or do you need some more convincing?

Cats and Dogs

Have you ever had a cat as a pet? Or perhaps maybe you have had a dog as a pet? Maybe you have had both a cat and a dog, but not at the same time or maybe you have had them at the same time, like I have had in both situations? NO matter what way you have had it, if you had both pets, you know definitely that each animal is distinctively different than each other. You would also notice that even though they are two different types of species, they have a number of similarities.

First things first, cats and dogs are alike because they both have four legs, a tail or no tail, some fur (long or short), they cry for their food, they fight with their own species and other species, and they could be either house pets or outdoor pets. Most people may think that these observations may only be physical wise, they are also mentally too. Both cats and dogs can find their way back to their owner’s house. They also could be taught many tricks like jumping through hoops and such.

Cats and dogs are different in their own ways. Dogs tend to be more of a guard while a cat might leave the house unprotected. Cats find their own way to dispose of their feces while dogs have to be trained to. Dogs have to be keep on a leash when at parks whereas with a cat you would not even need it.

In conclusion there are many comparisons and contrasts between cats and dogs. Cats and dogs share features that are similar to one another while a cat may roam around while a dog must stay on a leash. I can see these similarities and differences between the two animals but to me they are all the same, animals. Do you feel the same?

Dressing Formally vs. Dressing Informally

Have you ever been to a funeral, been to a wedding, had a business meeting, or went to church? Have you ever hung out with your friends at their house just to watch a couple of movies? You are probably wondering why I am asking you these pointless questions because you have been to one or more of these things. It is not pointless because if you notice, if you were to go to any of these events, you would have to dress differently. If you went to a wedding you would have to dress formally, but if you were going over your friend’s house, you would dress informally. I am going to tell you the differences between the two of these dressing occasions.

If you were to go to a wedding, you would need to look as nice as you can. You would not want to go there in some jeans and a polo shirt because people would look at you weird. When you go to these types of events, you should dress formal because you want to look serious. You would not dress formal just to watch movies on your couch with your friend, you would dress informally. When you dress informally, you can dress as laid back as you can. If you were at home you could even dress in sweatpants. You are not serious and it would not really hurt you if you fell and got dirt in your informal clothes.

In conclusion dressing informally and dressing formally has its differences. When you dress formally you might be going to a wedding and you need to look nice and serious. When you dress informally you might go over a friend’s house and you could be as relaxed as possible. So remember next time you go to a wedding, do not dress informally.

Raw vs. Cooked Foods

There are many different types of food that we eat every day. You could eat fish, sushi, chicken, vegan food, and many other foods. There are so many different types of foods, that if I tried to place them all into different types of groups, it would take forever. Even though that may be virtually impossible because there are so many different foods, there is something in common that all of the foods have. They either belong to the cooked food group that you eat or the raw food group that you eat.

Since there are now two different groups that I could focus on, I could tell you how some of the cooked food and raw food are alike and how some are different. First of all, I would like to say that not all raw food and not all cooked food taste good. For example, liver is cooked and it is nasty and raw celery is nasty. With that similarity, raw and cooked foods both could be eaten and would taste slightly different if the raw food was cooked and the cooked food was left raw. The difference between the two is that raw food does not require any cooking while cooked food does. The other difference is that you might need to reheat cooked food if you brought it for lunch at school while you could eat raw food right away.

In conclusion, raw foods and cooked foods have their similarities and differences. Raw foods are not cooked and cooked food is not raw. They are both similar because they are food. Which one would you prefer to eat?

Spicy vs. Sweet Foods

There are many different types of foods out there that are either spicy, sweet or a little in between. Some sweet foods mostly range in the dessert section, but there are some things, like chicken, that can be sweet. Some spicy foods could be some Mexican food or maybe even be eating a chip that is specially made to be spicy, like Doritos. No matter which way you look at it, there will always be spicy foods and sweet foods. The thing is spicy foods and sweet foods have both similarities and differences.

The first similarity is obvious because they are both foods and the second similarity is that you could eat them. These similarities are obvious just like how the differences are. The differences are that spicy foods are generally hot and they cause me to want some water or something to drink so the burning feeling would go away. Sweet foods are different because they taste sweet and they hit the sweet taste bud on your tongue. I personally like sweet foods better than spicy foods.

In conclusion, sweet foods and spicy foods have their differences in taste and their similarities. Spicy foods are spicy while sweet foods are sweet and that is pretty much all you can say about them. Which one would you prefer to eat?

Weather and Your Mood

What is the first thing you do when you feel the sun shining outside? Do you decide that since it is summer, you want to throw a swimming pool party and barbeque some ribs or something? Or do you go out with your friends to hang out because you feel happy? Believe it or not, the weather affects your mood in many ways and can cause you to do certain things. I know this from firsthand experience and you probably have too, but you just have not noticed it.

I remember one day it was very very cold and I was on my way to school. By the time that I had got there, my hands felt frozen, but not to the point that I would get frost-bite. They were so cold that when I got to my first class of the day, I had to take about thirty minutes for my hand to feel alright enough when I wrote notes with my pencil and it was pretty irritating. The rest of the day was so cold that when I got home it had began to rain and I just sat down on my bed with a big blanket wrapped around me. While listening to the rain, I found myself falling asleep because I was warm and the rain sang me to sleep. This story shows me that since it was raining and very cold it made my mood change from irritated to sleepy. It also showed me that the weather had affected my mood.

Public Schooling vs. Homeschooling

How would you like it if you were homeschooled and you were suddenly switched to public school? Now how would you feel if you got your education from a public schooling system and then you were suddenly switched to homeschooling? If I were you, I would be either mad or a little frightened for both ways because unfortunately for me, I have been in this situation. I was first taught in a public school from Kindergarten to second grade. Then my mother pulled me, along with my siblings, into being homeschooled for two whole grades. Then my mother decided to place all of us back into public schooling, so I was then in the public system to the present day. You may think that homeschooling and public schooling are different, they are but they still have their similarities.

When I was homeschooled, it was a bit different. First off, I only got to see my siblings every day, meaning that I had no friends that I could communicate with. Second, we got to go to other people’s houses for extra things that they didn’t have at my old school, like sewing. Third, we did not have any school on Friday, so we were allowed to relax that day. Fourth, we did not have any physical education system besides being able to run around our backyard. Finally, we had to make a homemade lunch every day because our mother did not buy any fast food for us to eat.

When I was in public schooling things were different than at home. I had school every day of the week unless there was a holiday. I had chances to reacquaint myself with my old friends and made new friends with other people and I barely saw my younger brother who was at my school. I got to have physical education with my teachers. I also got the school lunch from the lunch served from the school. What it did not have was extra activities like sewing.

Though they both have their differences, there were still things that were similar. First off, I still had to do my school work either way. If I did not do it, I was punished (which never happened). I still had a teacher, in homeschooling it was my mom and in public schooling it was the teacher.  We still had field trips. And I still had fun learning even though when I was in homeschooling, I did not like being isolated.

In conclusion, homeschooling and public schooling has its differences and its similarities. In some cases I was able to get off of school on Fridays and in others I was able to communicate and have fun with my friends. Which one would you prefer?

Semester Persuasive Essay #6: United States Best Country?

Prompt 34. Many people immigrate to the United States because they believe that it is better than their native country. In fact, many people believe that the United States is the best country in the world. Do you agree? Why or why not?

     

There are many people who believe that the United States is a better place to live. They would rather live there than their own home land. They mostly do this because they might believe that the United States is the best country in the world. For me to think that the U.S. is the best country in this would make me have a lot of nationalism. Although the United States may have a better society, is very popular, and has inevitable rights, I believe that the United States is not the best country in the world because I believe that no country is better than the rest since every country has their problems.

I believe that the United States is not the best country in the world because it has too many problems. It does not have so many problems to make it the worst country in the world, but it has enough to not make it a great country, but a good country. In fact, the world is full of good countries in the world. Some of these countries include England, China, Japan, Canada, and Russia. They all have their problems that make them not good enough to be a great country. In fact, I do not think that there is ever going to be a great country simply because of the fact that each and every country has its problems.

The United States has a major problem with its money. I mean look at it! We are in debt so far back that it would take us to the day that the world ends to finish paying off of the debt. I believe that this is one of the major problems with the United States that make it not be the best country in the world. In order for us to pay off this debt, we should stop borrowing money from other countries. That way we could at least become a better country than we are now and we would have one less problem in our way from being the best country.

The United States would never be the best country in the world also because we still have not gotten over racism. Even though we are no longer segregated in the south, we still have many problems. For example, let us look our president Barack Obama. Many White people blame him for everything bad going on in our country. First of all he is just one person and he has to look over the whole country. Second of all, the problems that they blame him for were problems that persisted with all the other presidents, so it is nothing new. I see that as racism because now that there is a Black president, they basically want to blame him for global warming. I believe that if there is racism in any country, there would never be the best country and this applies to the United States.

In conclusion, I believe that the United States is not the best country in the world because of its problems. Even though it has a lot of appealing things to it, I believe that it would never be the best because there is racism, debt, and has too many problems. There is no country that is great, only good. So, do you see now what I see? Because if you do not see that the U.S. is only a good country, then you are missing the big picture.

Understanding vs. Knowledge

What two things come to your mind when you hear or see the word knowledge? Do you think of a big pile of books and a brain like I do? How about what comes to your mind when you hear or see the word understanding? Do you think of a giant, green, check mark like I do? If you think like I do, I can tell you that I really do not know what the real meaning of both of these words, but it is what I seem to understand. Even though they may seem just alike, understanding and knowledge are two different concepts.

Knowledge I like what you know and what you could learn. No one can take away any of your knowledge unless you give it away. You can learn what it is and you could keep it in your brain for safe keeping. Understanding is a concept where you finally get what the person is talking about. You could understand what it is and that is what I mean by the big green check mark. It is a check for yes as in yes I understand. Understanding is also having empathy for a person because you understand what the person is going through because you were in a similar situation. One thing you can do with understanding is understand the knowledge that you let in your brain. These terms go hand in hand with each other.

In conclusion, understanding and knowledge are different by are used together. Knowledge has to do with what you know and understanding is how well you get the concepts. For knowledge though, you have to understand it so the terms go together. What do you think about understanding and knowledge?

An Interesting Person

There are many people who find others especially interesting. It could be because of the way they spoke, the way they walked, the way they helped you when you fell and scraped your knee, or maybe even the way they taught something valuable to you. All of these things could make a person interesting in their own way and they might not even realize that they intrigue the other person until they talk to the person. I remember this one person who I thought was really interesting. I will tell you about this person who eventually became my buddy friend.

I remember when I was in summer school and I just got out of being homeschooled. It was the summer before I went back to my regular private school.  I did not like the summer school because I somehow stubbed my toe and was placed in the class with the most obnoxious and students, all except for this girl who never had to participate in the work. The teacher seemed to love her like she was the teacher’s pet. I immediately wondered why this girl did not have to do any work, so I decided to talk to this especially interesting girl. At first it was hard because usually people come to me first to ask me if I wanted to be there friend, but I held my ground. I asked to play with her on the playground and she did. Then the interesting girl became my friend.

In conclusion, I found this girl in my summer school class interesting. She was loved by the teacher and I wanted to be able to talk to her. Because I found her interesting I approached her and she became my friend. Do you know anyone especially interesting? If so, can you tell me?

My Most Effective Teacher

There are many teachers that I have had during my school years. Some of them have been alright; some have been excellent, while others have been downright horrible.  Horrible as in I did not learn anything from the class. When I mean they were excellent I mean that they were some very effective teachers. There was one particular teacher that was the most effective and that was my tenth grade algebra two teacher that I had last year.

My algebra two teacher was very effective because now that I do not have her class, I still remember the things that she had taught my class. I use this to my advantage because I now have my Pre-Calculus class and I could use all of the knowledge I know from algebra two into what I am learning in Pre-Calculus. I could still remember things like if you had an exponential function and was trying to solve it, you can do that by using the inverse operation which is a logarithmic equation or something close to that. I remember how to complete the square in order and a whole lot of other things. I still remember a lot of stuff, because I know that it would help me in the long run because she was so effective when teaching me.

In conclusion, my most effective teacher was my teacher from tenth grade. She was so effective because I can still retain information taught from that class and implement it into what I was learning in my other class. Now that I have said my most effective teacher, may I ask who your most effective teacher is?

Memoir

People often say “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Describe a time when you misjudged someone based on his or her appearance or when someone misjudged you.

I remember this specific time where I had misjudged this one person that I had meet over the summer when I was taking this Locksmith class with my mother and sister. His name was JoeI but he went by Joe. The first time I had met him was on my first day in the class.

 I was highly furious with my mom because she had forced me to take the class even though I specifically told her that I did not want to go to that class. It had ruined my beautiful sleeping and eating patterns that I had planned for the summer. So, that day I had showed that I did not want to be there at all. When my mother had introduced me to some of her friends I just gave them an empty hello and I went back to whatever I was doing. When I met Joe my first thought was that he was big. He had long hair swept back into a pony tail and a mustache that was thick. To me, he looked very intimidating for some reason even though he gave me a friendly hello.

It was only after a couple days in class that I had noticed that Joe actually turned out to be filled with humor, care and kindness. He gave us money and he offered to share something from his lunch. We sat with him at lunch and he was one of the friendly faces that would be missed if he was not there. He even offered to help me and my sister with any problems that we had on the work (I ended up not needing help, but my sister sometimes did.)

Studying Abroad

There are many things that you could do when you are going to college. You could join a club, you could go to the games, and you could go to different activities. Even though these things may seem fun, there is one thing that you could seem more exciting. You could decide to study abroad. When you are about to study abroad, you might need to learn a whole entirely different language that is not familiar to you. There are a number of different steps that you need to accomplish before you decide to do this. The things that you would need to do would include some of the following things: find the study abroad system in your school, find what country you want to go to, research the language that the country speaks, find a great teacher to teach you the language that you need to know, find people who speak that language and practice with the accent, or instead use Rosetta Stone if you have money problems in finding a teacher.

These things may work or they may not work. It depends on your responsibility, learning, and maturity levels. If you do not have these things, you would not be able to learn the language as effectively as any other person who has the right skills. Once you have learned the language though, you might find it better for you because you would now look at the world with a different perspective. Not Enough Sleep

How many hours daily do you usually get when you go to sleep? Do you get around four hours because you were texting all night long? Or do you get a full eight hours of sleep because you go to sleep every day at 9:00 and wake up at 6:00? If you may have realized, when you sleep only for four hours you would feel tired whereas if you sleep for eight hours, you would feel like you had a full nights rest. Saying this, I would like to bring to your attention that not getting enough could affect your day.

I would use myself for example because I barely get enough sleep every day. I would come home from school and do my homework, but it takes so long that I do not end up finishing it till about 11:30 at night. I then would rest a little and then take a shower and end up not falling asleep till about 2:00. I would have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning to get to my early class on time. I would get to school and I would be sleepy by the time my lunch is over. By that time I can barley put my hands on my head without somehow falling asleep. Because of the lack of sleep, I might miss out on valuable information in class. 

In conclusion, not getting enough sleep could affect you day. For myself, when I do not get enough sleep, I find it hard to stay awake after lunch in my last class for the day. Now tell me this, how does not having enough sleep affect your day?

Favorite Movie: Avatar!

Hey you! Yeah you in the corner! Have you seen the movie Avatar that was directed and made by James Cameron? It is that long movie with the blue people. You have not seen it, man you need to see it. What, you do not have money for a television? Man, you really need to see it. I know you just told me that you have not anything to see it, but how about this; I will tell you all about this movie. Good, then I will.

The movie starts off with the main character Jake Sully and he is shipped off to space to go to this alien planet called Pandora. It was not his dream to go there because he was a marine, but since his twin brother died, he decided to carry out his brother’s dream. When he arrives to the planet, we find out the air is toxic to humans and would kill you within five minutes, so they have air masks to wear and they also find out that on the planet live the Na’vi, who are these eleven foot tall people who have tails and head connect thingies along with their signature blue skin. They have only three fingers and a thumb and the creatures that live alongside the Na’vi have six legs and some are very vicious. We also find out that Jake’s legs are messed up causing him not to be able to use his legs.

Jake plays into the story because Grace and others have created many Avatars’ that had human DNA and that of the natives. The human could upload to their Avatar through a link system. Jake takes his brothers avatar and when he first links with it he gets to feel like he really had the use of his legs with him. Even though he helps out Grace, he has to help out Colonel Miles Quaritch by using his Avatar to get close to the natives so when the time comes, he would be able to tell them to leave, so that the people could take the unobtainium under their home that sold for a whole lot of money.

As the movie progresses, Jake find himself in a situation where he is out alone in the wilderness in his Avatar form. Jake meets Neytiri and Tus’tey and he is lead to their village. Neytiri’s mother and father meet him and her mother directs her to teach Jake the way of the Omaticaya. The movie goes on where Jake learns all he needs to know. He eventually falls in love with Neytiri. The place where Neytiri lives gets destroyed and Grace gets shot and dies. In the end there was a big battle between the humans and the Na’vi. The Na’vi win and the humans are forced off the planet with a few exceptions. Jake is one of those peoples because he becomes the leader and is trusted by the people. At the very end somehow the connections that the Na’vi could make to the plants transferred all of Jake into the Avatar body, so he was fully in that body.

Personal Essay

Narrative Writing Prompt: The way a person handles disappointment reveals a great deal about what is important to him or her. Tell about a time in your life when you confronted disappointment and how you handled it.

There are many times in my life where I have had to face disappointment. Almost all of these times were petty things or around any holidays that my family and I celebrate, including my birthday. In fact, the one time that I was most disappointed was around my birthday this year. Even though I felt disappointed on my birthday for the past four years, there was something different about this one. It was because this year was the year I turned sixteen.

I know I should have expected to be disappointed on my birthday, but I did not think about it and gave it hope. I have never had a birthday party and so have not my sibling except for one of them when they were two years old, I was not expecting a birthday party though, but at least something different. I mean I was turning sixteen, so I would have least would have thought it would be a little special. The thing is, it was not very special at all except for me getting older.

For my birthday, I had wanted an iPod touch, since I did not get it for Christmas. Instead of getting it on my birthday, my dad gave it to me in January six months prior to my birthday. He did not even have the patience to wait six months. So, along with my early birthday gift my school had planned to go to Six Flags a couple of days after my birthday. I was excited because I had found something to do for my birthday. It turned out that my parents did not want to give me any money for the ticket or for spending money. So, I had to use my early birthday money my Aunt and Granny gave me to pay for the ticket. To top it all off, the school had postponed the trip to the last day of school. So, my whole plan for celebrating my birthday went down the drain.

So, what I ended up getting was an iPod touch to early in advance and a trip to Six Flags that symbolized the end of school and a far too late thing to do for my birthday. I got nothing else besides about a few dollars and birthday cards from my Granny and parent for my birthday. I was, in fact, disappointed on how “special” my sixteenth birthday was (note the sarcasm.) It was in fact one of my blandest birthdays in my life even though an iPod touch is a great gift, just not when  it was give too far in advance.

How did I deal with my disappointment? Well, I went into my room and cried a little because that is what I usually do when something saddens me or is very unfair to me. After that I was a little angry with my parents, but I did not show them that I was. I just avoided the situation and did not worry about it after that day because life is not fair. Stuff like that happened all of the times in other families.

Whip My Hair

Hey there! Have you heard of the new music video for “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith? Oh, you have not? Well, that is too bad because it is a video that I cannot stop watching even though my parents think it is an annoying song from a girl who cannot sing and sings the same thing over and over again. I do admit that the phrase “I whip my hair back and forth” is repeated throughout the whole song, but that is beside the point. I am here to tell you about the music video since you have not had the chance to see or hear it yet.

The music video starts off with a very dull grey room with bored and children who look boring. Willow starts to walk in with a boom box and she dips the tips of her hair in the paint of her boom box and she whips her hair around the room, all the while spreading paint everywhere giving color to the dull room. She keeps whipping her hair (she barely has because of her Mohawk like hair style) and basically everyone starts to have fun and let loose from being all dull and serious all the time. She sings about how she does not care what people say and basically that no one could bring her down as long as she keeps whipping her hair. Her brother, Jaden Smith, stars in her video near the end and he whips his hair too!

So, that is basically how the music video goes. I really hope that you like “Whip My Hair”. That way when you do finally hear the song, you would be able to sing along with me!

Teenage Fad

There are many famous fashion fads in the world today. It ranges from the ripped jeans all the way to wearing UGG boots with shorts on. Everywhere around the world it is a different fashion. Every fad comes from an origin though and some start with a certain group of people wearing these objects. Today, a teenage fad that teenagers fall back on is the boys dressing in tight skinny jeans.

You might think about all of the teenage boys you have seen and realized four things. These things are that their pants are colored skinny jeans, skinny jeans, regular sized for their body type, or sagging off of their waist and sometimes butts. What I first did not understand was how come boys wearing colored skinny jeans became so popular? I mean I thought that only girls were supposed to wear skinny jeans. Apparently not because now there are a lot of boys wearing colored skinny jeans and they are quite popular. I know this is not the only reason why it became popular, but the main reason it seemed to become popular because jerkers wore them. Since the jerkers wore them and boys wanted to be like them, colored skinny jeans became popular. And since it was popular, more and more teenage boys seem to buy them.

In conclusion, teenage boy wearing colored skinny jeans has become a fad of our world today. It became popular mostly because of jerkers who wore them. I just hope that they would not blind me with the brightness of the colored skinny jeans.

Relationships With Animals

There are many people who spend much of their time with animals. They like to dress them up, kiss the, love them, and maintain a very good relationship with them. They may spend so much time with the animals that normal human communication may be very uncomfortable for them. Luckily, there are not many people in fact any that act like that. I myself am a person that spend some time with my cat, but I do not do it pass an obsession like others might do. Like me, there are other people who have different types of relationships with animals.

Let us look at my sister and me as an example of having different relationships with our cat. We both share him and his name is Mandy and I believe that he has experienced two different relationships between my sister and me. My sister loves to get Mandy’s attention a lot. She does that by feeding him almost every time he meows and is by the kitchen side door. She likes to dress his wounds when he gets into fights and she loves to dress him in her doll clothes, like a tutu. She tends to go pick up Mandy any time anyone else tries to play with him, therefore claiming that Mandy is her “son.” Mandy does not seem to like when she is always squeezing him, but she does not take notice with stuff like that. On the other hand I care for a cat like a regular cat lover. I give him water and food when someone else cannot, I pick him up and cuddle with him, and I would play with him. Other than that my relationship is simple.

In conclusion, there are different relationships that people have with animals. Some could be too “lovey dovey”, while others could be plain and simple. Or they might have a crazy obsession with that animal.

Most Tastiest Dessert

Have you ever had a dessert before? A dessert so good that when you think about it your mouth just waters from thinking of the taste. I would like to say that every dessert that I have tasted, except for anything with coconut (German chocolate pie or cake), is very delicious. With that out the way, I would like to describe the most luscious, decadent dessert that I have tasted which is almost any kind of cheesecake (no offense to any of the other few desserts that I have tasted.

Cake, apple pie, cherry pie, cream cheese pie, ice cream, and pumpkin pie are just a few desserts that I have tasted, but there is no way that any of them comes close to cheesecake. Cream cheese pie is the only dessert that comes close one to it, but it is pie and not cheesecake. Cheesecake is delectable in a whole lot of ways. It is creamy when you place it on your tongue and it taste like heaven. The filling is not the only good part, but the crust too. It would be like you were eating a delicious graham cracker. The combination of the crust and filling would be an explosion in my mouth and it would make me want to eat the whole cake in one sitting.

In conclusion, cheesecake is the most delectable, luscious dessert that I have tasted in my whole life. I have not tasted many other desserts, but for right now cheesecake is the tastiest out of the few I have tasted. What is your tastiest dessert? Is it cheesecake too?

Life without Cell Phones

Imagine going a whole day without your cell phone. Would you be able to function right? Most people I know would answer no to this question. Now imagine going a whole week without your cell phone. Would you go insane just thinking about not having your cell phone? I know that I would not go insane, but my friends would say otherwise. Now, I would like for you to imagine there was no cell phones in the world for an entire month, year, decade, and century. How would you react? Me, I would be just fine with that, but I know others who entirely depend on their cell phones because the cell phones are their lives.

Life would be so different if there were not any cell phones. Especially for those people who text people every single second. People would not be able to communicate with each other. Everyone would be so stumped that they would not be able to contact a person everyday while being away from the house. It would be even worse for those people who do not have a land line phone. They would be totally disconnected from ways of communicating with someone with a regular phone. People would be forced to go back to writing more emails, using the landline phones, and writing letters. They would still be able to access places like face book, but if you did not have a computer with internet access, you would not be able to do that.

In conclusion, a life without cell phones would change our lives drastically. People would not be able to communicate like they did before. People would then be forced to go back to the methods of communicating before cell phones came out.

Visiting Egypt

There are many places to visit in the world that are not in your country. It could be a country that you have not heard anything about, or it could be a country that you have heard a lot about. Most people visit countries that they have heard a lot about because then it makes them appealing. Other times the person would visit the country on business, not because it is appealing. But for the ones that are for pleasure, it is because of its appeal. I would like to visit a foreign country because of its appeal and that country is Egypt.

I would like to visit Egypt because once upon a time the pharaohs ruled Egypt. They had their hidden tombs and their hieroglyphics in the desert. The Nile River is close by to it and they have the famous and beautiful pyramids. They even have the Great Sphinx statues and statues of pharaohs with their noses blown off to try to hide the fact that they had big noses. All of these things make Egypt appealing and it makes me want to visit it. I would want to walk through the desert, visit the pyramids and tombs, and brings souvenirs home. I would be able to talk to some of the natives there and even try to make a long-distant relationship with a friend.

In conclusion, the foreign country I would like to visit is Egypt. It is appealing because of its tombs, pyramids, statues, hieroglyphics, and its close proximity to the Nile River. I would visit there also to associate with the natives.

24. Some people prefer to live in the quiet of the country, others prefer the hustle and bustle of the city. Which do you think is the better choice? State your position and support it with specific reasons and examples.

Have you ever been to the city where there is a whole lot of noise and there are a whole lot of people that surround you? Or have you been to the country where there almost total quietness every time you are there and there are not as many people there? Most people would prefer the hustle and bustle of the city. Although the country allows you to see the night sky perfectly and is quiet, I believe that the city is better to live in because you would be sort of safe, more prepared for the world, and you would have more things to do for fun.

The city would be a lot safer than the country because even though crime is higher in the cities, you would be able to reach help faster. Let us just say that you were wandering in the country, you were all alone, you do not own a cell phone and you are nowhere near your house or your neighbor’s house. You fell and deeply cut your thigh when you tried to jump out of the tree. There would not be any help nearby close enough to help you, since the houses are so spread apart. On the other hand, if you in a city like New York, you would be able to find help immediately because there is always someone there to help you not to bleed to death.

You would be more prepared for the world when you live in the city because you are surrounded by many and different people. When you finally go into the work force, there are going to be people who are different who you are going to have to deal with. If you are going to have a job in finances, you are going to require working in an office of some type. In the city, you have those opportunities to work at those kinds of places since they would be closer to your home. If you lived in the city, there would not be any opportunities that you would be able to take to learn how to coup in the corporate world.

The city also has more fun things than the country. In the city you could go to your malls, your fairs, your water and theme parks, your ice skating rinks, roller skating rinks, your movie theaters, and your museums. Even though the country may have a few of these things, they do not have all of them. You cannot possibly have a much fun in the country than in the city. It is also more fun because the city has more people in it, so that means that there could have more people having fun at the same time instead of just three or four people.

In conclusion, the city is better to live in than the country. The city has more safety regarding your health, a better view of the corporate world, and more fun. If a city has all of this and the country does not have all of it, I know I would rather stay in the city where I already am. You should live in the city, it is for the best!

Attending College In Another State

College is a very big step that many high school graduates take when they get out of high school. They could go to a community college a four year university, a junior college, a private college, or even a college that is about nine hours away from your home. Either way it is a big step. But while others decide to stay inside their home state, others go to another state to attend college. Those who chose to go to another state have to make another additional step before they could attend that college.

The steps that that person would take are actually quite simple. First they would have to figure out if they would stay in the dorms or with a relative or friend, if they had any in that state. Second, they would have to figure out how they would pay for the out of state admissions tax because they are from another state. Third, they would have to actually go to the other state and find transportation, like maybe an airplane or a train. And finally, they would need to figure out if they were going to spend time with their family often because if so, they would need to arrange for future transportation. Other than that there is nothing more that the person needs to do.

In conclusion, you have to do some things before you attend college in another state. Some of these things may include finding a way to pay for the out of state tax and finding a place to stay when you are there. So, are you planning on attending college in another state? If so, I hope I helped you out.

Birthday Celebration

Have you ever wanted to have the best birthday party for your best friend? Well, I know that I have wanted that for a pretty long time and since their birthday is coming up fast, I want to throw them a party. I want this party to be so great that they would reminisce about it every time they had the chance to hang out with me. It would show how great of a friend that I am and would make me feel so much better that they think that about me. So, I have to make a plan.

The plan would go very well because I would be planning it. It would be a surprise birthday party because they have never had one before. I would get a cake specially made by the finest bakery in town. All of the decorations would be from designers. I would invite all of their closest friends. It would be in the hotel room at Disney Land, since my best friend has always wanted to go there. I would tell my best friend that I was just going there to pick something up from my Uncle so my best friend would not suspect a thing. Once the party was over, I would take my best friend to Disney Land and ride all of the rides. After the day was over I would ask my best friend what she thought about the day.

So, that is what I would do for my best friend’s birthday party. It would be very surprising to my best friend and it would be the birthday my best friend would remember. What would you do for your best friend’s birthday?

Living In Another Decade

There are many time periods that people wish they could live in. I know for a fact that many people would might want to live during the time where the women wore corsets and did not expose their skin like they do today. Or maybe they would want to live during the decade where break dancing was all hip and cool. Or maybe they would even want to live in a futuristic decade where you would not know what to expect. As you may have noticed people could have different decades that they would choose to live in. I know this because I would want to be different and live during the 1900’s.

During the 1900’s, the Wright Brothers had decided to learn how to fly with their airplane models. I would want to live during this decade because it would give me the chance to see all of the fascinating inventions from the Wright Brothers and I would be able to see all of the airplanes and how they would be different than modern day airplanes. The only thing that would be disturbing would the fact that I would have to become White. I would not think it would be safe for me to remain Black while going back to the time where Black people were not welcome in the White community.

In conclusion, if I were to live in any decade I would choose the 1900’s. I would choose this decade because I would be able to see the first airplanes. The only bad thing about living in that decade would be the fact that I am Black and we were not really welcomed back in the day.

Appreciating Your Parents

Can you imagine a world without parent? I know that most people would think it would be great if there were no parents around to nag them about cleaning the room or to invade the privacy of your own room. But I would think that it would not go very good. My younger siblings would probably burn our house down and eat all the food in one day if we had no parents. I would not want that to happen. That is one of the reasons why we should appreciate our parents.

There are many different reasons why you should appreciate your parents. If they were not there, who would feed you or clothe you? Who would make sure you got good grades in school or made sure you had a place to rest your head? If you do not appreciate your parents you would reap what you sowed. Since you did not appreciate your parents, your children did not appreciate you. Would you like for that to happen? I know I would not want for that to happen because I rather feel appreciated than not appreciated. You should also appreciate your parents because they are the ones who looked after you when you could not even talk or walk properly.

In conclusion, there are many reasons to appreciate your parents. Your parents are the ones that took care of you, gave you food to eat, and brought you into this world. It would be nice to appreciate your parents. Can you think of more reasons to appreciate your parents?

If I were to be asked to write an article about a person coming into my country from another country there would be many things that I would need to include in the article. They must be really famous if I was to write an article about this person, since ordinary people who have not done anything spectacular are not in articles.  Since this person is famous or a hero the article that I would have to write would be quite different from any other article that would mention something about oil.

There are many things that you would need to know about a person who has come to your country and they are foreign. First off, you would have to have information about the person’s personal account. Things like their name, where they are from, and if they have a family would be included. Second off, you would need to include information on why that person has decided to come to your country, whether it is for a better lifestyle of for some business. And finally, you could add some information like odd facts about the person depending on who it was. If it is a celebrity, then this would be okay to write this last part in the article.

In conclusion, when you have to write an article about a person coming to your country you would need to include certain information. You would need to put in who is coming and why and those are the two most important things that you need. Other things like random facts could also go in this article.

Family History

Preserving a family’s history is a very important thing that many people do and do not do. It really helps a person know their roots and their ancestors so there would not be many questions asked about who they really are. Some people already have others in their family that already gathers information about the family, so by the time you look at it, it is already done. I am one of the people who have already known my history because someone in my family has done that. But, it is still important to know things about your family by asking your older relatives directly.

When you preserve your history, you need to ask certain questions to your older relative. Some of these questions may include: Where are our ancestors from, who married into the family, who had the most children, was there anyone famous in our family, how far back can you remember your history, and how big is our family? These are just some of the few questions that you should ask your older relatives in order to know and preserve your history. Once you have done that, you would be able to be more confident to who you are and you would be able to pass done they information you have obtained when you grow old enough for your younger relatives to ask you questions about their family history.

In conclusion, you should ask questions to older relatives in order to preserve your family history. One of the questions could be where are our ancestors from? When you get to ask these questions you would be able to carry on your family history. Now, are you going to start asking questions because if so, that would be great?

How to Choose the Right College

When you are about to graduate from your senior year, if you are deciding to go to college right after high school, you are probably still deciding what college you want to go to. You have probably already had a list of choices of schools that you were accepted into and the ones that you have considered going to. It may seem difficult to find the right college that you would think would best fit you, but that should not discourage you from giving up on deciding. In order to choose the right college you would have to think about your expectations, how far you want to be away from your parents, and how much money do you want to spend.

When you are looking for the right college, you would have to listen to what your gut tells you. If it tells you that the college needs to be near your parent, follow your gut. If it tells you that you need to stay at a college that is not overly expensive, follow your gut. If it tells you to go that college that has very nice dorms and a nice big and open library where the students are friendly, then follow your gut. The point of this is, if you do not follow what your gut tells you, then you would not know which college would suit you the most.

In conclusion, if you follow what you gut tells you, you would be able to pick out the right college. No one is stopping you other than yourself, so it only matters what you think. If you think the cheaper college is for you, then that is the right college choice for you.
